Mel is a purpose-driven leader with over 24 years in the public service, complemented by extensive governance experience in the NGO sector across youth, housing, education, employment and health. Mel's career reflects a deep commitment to kaupapa driven work that creates lasting impact - work that grows people, strengthens communities, and drives equity.
Currently General Manager of Partnership and Engagement for Ringa Hora (Services Workforce Development Council), Mel champions collaboration and authentic relationships to influence change and deliver on the promises of vocational education for all. She is passionate about addressing systemic inequities in education and ensuring opportunities are accessible for all.
With proud roots in the villages of Sinamog and Vaifase-Tai, Samoa, Mel brings cultural values of service and leadership into everything she does. Residing in Wainuiomata with her husband and two children, she continues to advocate for initiatives what empower and enable people to thrive.
