

Sally Morrison
Board Member
Sally Morrison is an accomplished leader with a proven record of driving governance excellence and positive change across complex organisations and communities. Her career spans health, public service and sport and is underpinned by a strong commitment to equity and inclusion.
Starting as a Registered Nurse, Sally transitioned into public service leadership, culminating in senior roles at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). As Head of Governance at MBIE, she designed and implemented a new governance system for one of New Zealand’s largest agencies, earning praise in an independent review. Later, as Head of the Office of the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Advisor to the MBIE CEO/Secretary, Sally shaped strategic priorities, strengthened leadership capability, and advised on delivery across 23 Ministers, 14 portfolios, a $1 billion budget, and more than 6,000 staff.
Her leadership has been recognised nationally: Sally was a finalist in the New Zealand Women of Influence Awards (Board & Management) and received the Women in Governance Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 for her long-standing contribution to governance and mentoring wāhine leaders.
Beyond government, Sally has championed community sport and gender equity. She became the first female Chair of a cricket board in New Zealand, leading Cricket Wellington through significant organisational change. She has also chaired boards in hockey and rugby league, and continues to advocate for inclusive pathways in sport.
Sally currently serves as Head of Client Services at Aspeq, a global assessment services organisation working with clients across multiple countries to deliver secure, high-stakes testing solutions. In this role, she leads strategic client partnerships and drives innovation to ensure quality and trust in assessment worldwide.
Her appointment to the FinCap Board reflects her passion for strengthening financial capability and wellbeing for whānau and communities across Aotearoa.
