With the release of the Wellbeing Budget 2023 last week, FinCap welcomes the Government’s continued support for financial mentors who are walking alongside whānau across Aotearoa, particularly as they encounter increased cost of living pressures and in the aftermath of this years’ severe weather events.
We especially thank and congratulate all financial mentors and services who have shared stories of your important work in campaigning for sustainable funding. In doing so you have illustrated just why this funding is so crucial for our communities. We also acknowledge those services that are unfunded and continue to do amazing work under this additional pressure.
The commitment to retain funding at the current level – see page number 109 of the Budget – over the next year for services who are currently funded means that financial mentors can continue their amazing work in enabling community well-being.
